Most Botania setup problems are easier to solve when you separate version errors, dependency errors, conflicts and pack-specific recipe changes instead of treating every symptom as the same problem.
Minecraft crashes during startup
Confirm that the Botania file matches the exact Minecraft version and loader. Then check that every required dependency is present in a compatible version. One wrong file can create many secondary errors later in the log.
The loader says a dependency is missing
Install the dependency named by the error using a build for the same Minecraft version and loader. Do not download a similarly named library from another loader family.
Botania is missing from the mod list
Check that the file is a compiled mod JAR rather than a source ZIP, that it is in the correct instance's mods folder, and that your launcher is starting the profile you edited.
Recipes are missing or different
Open the Lexica Botania for your installed version. If you are using a modpack, also check its documentation because scripts and data packs can intentionally replace or remove recipes.
A world loads but one system does not work
Reduce the setup to its smallest working form and follow the resource flow. For mana systems, verify generation, transfer, storage and consumption in that order. Rebuild only the part that fails.
Botania works alone but not in the full pack
Create a copy of the instance and reintroduce other mods in groups until the problem returns. Then narrow the failing group. This is more reliable than guessing based on mod names.
An update broke a previously working profile
Restore the previous working files if possible, then review the updated release notes and dependency requirements. Update in smaller steps and keep a world backup before testing again.
What to include when asking for help
Record the Minecraft version, loader and version, Botania version, dependency versions, the relevant crash report or latest log, and the smallest steps that reproduce the problem. That information is much more useful than a screenshot of the launcher closing.
